Riley Mcferrin is a San Francisco- and Vancouver-based artist who constructs paintings, sculptures, and site-specific
installations. He is also a furniture designer and builder.
His most recent fine
art work depicts encounters between nature, man and machine. Made of wood, rusted metal, rope, live grass, resins and many other textures and materials, his work create spaces and situations that encourage the viewer to confront their relationship with nature. In a culture that grows increasingly disconnected from natural resources, his work nostalgically admires hand production and the simple relationship with the natural world, while simultaneously questioning whether its even possible to make it simple again.
As a
furniture designer and builder, Riley focuses on natural and salvaged materials like wood, concrete, metal and glass and creates clean, modern shapes paired with warm, hand-hewn details.
